Interview:10 questions

1. Tell me something about your life and the educational background

P.P : I am a self taught filthmaker, i say filth because even though i appreciate filmmaking i also see it as a form of trash or disposable art, since it’s become oblivious to those in the business, i mean it started for money and has become only about money, money is filthy. So i am a filthmaker, i learned the craft by directing my first short “Pig’s Feet” and watching films religiously, i love anything by John Waters, Roman Polanski & Pedro Almodóvar. I believe that films can open people’s spirit guiding them with beautiful aesthetics that might inspire them in some way. I don’t believe in artsy fartsy films because they alienate people, when they get confused, they get lost therefore you are not helping human kind.

2. When, how and why started you filming?

P.P : I feel in love with an actress and had to write a part for her, yes it might sound superficial, but i love honesty. When all was done i realized how much joy the whole experience brought upon me & decided it would be one of my passions, i do recommend that anybody who wants to direct they should write their own films, simply because it’s a much more organic process rather than adapting/interpreting somebody else’s words.

3. What kind of subjects have your films?

P.P: I like to question human condition, i want to explore peoples inner desires weather they are weird or criminal, i hate censorship or moral issues, i think the truth will always be dirtier and more entertaining than giving happy endings or retarded thematic.

4. How do you develop your films, do you follow certain principles, styles etc?

P.P: I follow beauty in the darkest places, visual expression/poetry i would say is my strongest signature, i can tell you the most macabre story in a beautiful way so maybe you will come to understand rather than judge.

5. Tell me something about the technical equipment you use.

P.P : The cheaper the better, i think technology & money make sloppy directors/filthmakers…Fuck the studio system!

6. What are the chances of new media for the genre film/video in general
and you personally?

P.P: I think chances are huge, we live in crazy times and crisis always make the best artists, now a day’s all you need is passion & drive to achieve your dreams, it’s all about passion and never letting your mind get in the way, if the heart is in the right place you will be invincible!

7. How do you finance your films?

P.P: I’m an artist in general, so i manage to finance my films all by myself selling my paintings, photographs, clothing line, etc. I don’t work for any kind of production company or higher power, i am my own boss so i can be free to work every day with a smile not having to answer to anybody nor giving explanations.

8. Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team?

P.P: I mostly work alone, but when in need i have great friends that believe & admire me, that’s very important, if you want people to work for you/with you they have to be your fans first or else you will not be respected.

if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?

P.P: When you work alone you are in total bliss/control but you can find yourself overwhelmed with a gigantic work load, its smarter to get some help but always be prepared to get a bit angry if people don’t share your perspective, try to be patient & treat them kindly.

9. Who or what has a lasting influence on your film/video making?

P.P : Pedro Almodóvar, because he has a unique view about women, he knows exactly how we (women) are and how they handle pain, love & despair. Also he appreciates beautiful photography & amazing music to acomplish his films.

10. What are your future plans or dreams as a film/video maker?

P.P: I am filming a anti-Christmas, Christmas movie this Christmas ha ha, it will star Siamese twins that share only one digestive organ, it’s a sarcastic adventure that criticizes the commercial industry and how it affects damaged people in contrast to happy people. Next year im filming a cannibal trilogy & later on i plan to direct/write 3 films, one is biographical film about a Mexican poet, the second is a violent vampire film and the last is a fantasy film related to creatures of the sea.

Can works of yours viewed online besides on VideoChannel? Where?

P.P : You can find my work in youtube.com/priscillapomeroy but i will have my own site www.priscillapomeroy.com by November because i am sick of YOUTUBE, they have been deleting my films and i personally advise you not to rely on them anymore, you will be disappointed.
